The wound is the place where the light enters

Leila Jeffreys striking portraits of the pigeons and doves of New Guinea and Australia form part of Leila Jeffreys’ first USA exhibition, Ornithurae Volume 1, at Olsen Gruin, New York, October - 12 November 2017. Opened by Brooke Shields.

‘The wound is the place where the light enters’, is a line from a Rumi poem.
The poem speaks to the fact that pain reveals and helps us cherish what truly matters. We can only mourn what we deeply love.
